Gordo and His 5 Ringed Circus

As I’m of the “Didn’t Ask for the Olympics” camp, I found a great site selling T-shirts made by people of a similar mindset.  They pretty much sum up my thoughts on the Olympics.

I’ve already ordered mine!

I’m neither for or against the Olympics in Vancouver however to all the people that do not want them what is it you don’t want, the Olympics in Vancouver or no Olympics period? It’s obvious any city that hosts the venue will come out at a loss as they are not a money (profit making) event. The majority of the atheletes can only afford to train and compete by means of sponsorship as they are not paid to do their sport (now I did say the majority, there are NHL players and such involved as well). I guess the question is at what expense do they justify having the games? Can it be done a lot cheaper with a whole lot less glamour yet still show who is the best in the world at their sport. I feel we need the Olympics but not at the price we have to pay/sacrifice to have them.
They should have back up runs for skiing when they run into warm weather (having the event moved to where ever they need to instead of trucking andf FLYING in snow)it should be easy to calculate that in with the areas historic weather patterns and prepare for it.
But it is here now whether we want it or not and I feel we should support or atheletes now and show some Canadian Pride!
You don’t like that the Oympics are here, vote different in your next provincial election……

It’s not the Olympics I’m against… it’s the giant waste of cash to host the games.
It’s the lying from the start from VANOC that the games won’t cost taxpayers a cent and here we are, $7 Billion later… and climbing…
It’s hosting events relying on snow on a local Vancouver mountain that, on any given year, has marginal conditions at best.
It’s EVEN MORE lying that the trucking and flying in all this snow was ‘part of the original contingency budget’.
It’s governor Swartzeneggar carrying the torch through Stanley Park (only ‘cuz Gordon Campbell is his bitch).
It’s the overall lack of accountability and those who host the games know it. When it’s all said and done… When the party’s over and we’re $15 billion poorer because of it… no one is going to be held accountable… and that’s a damn shame…

I’m not against the athletes. While I’ve never been big on sports I’ll still root for Canada.

But I sure would be alot happier to see a good old lynching for John Furlong and the merry band of cheese eating dickwads who basically give every Canadian the finger and simply walk away.

Oh, and btw, I DID vote for a different party… but instead we got the ’same old party’ and a brand new HST.

Believe me Roger I hear your reasoning for their lack of reasoning, but are they really lies if people with any common sense know that the politicians are full of it. “Won’t cost the tax payers a cent” every Olympic venue since I have been alive has cost the host city/province/state more money than what was bugeted for. The history of the snow conditions can be figured out by a 6th grader with a computer and google. If the trucking/flying of snow was in the budget get them to prove it, but they won’t and as stated we all know they will go over budget. The “Arnold” thing is what I was getting at before, get rid of the glitz and glam (leave it to the Rock Stars) and go back to the basics…..make it affordable to watch and partake in. Check out the prices to go see a playoff hockey game or even better a medal game……ameurature hockey at its best….yeah right!
Politicians are some of the few who can outright lie to everyone and get away with it with little to no reprecussion, it is sad. And as far as voting goes sometimes its a choice of who is the best of the assholes!
