Every time you turn on the news all you hear about is H1N1 this and Swine Flu that. There is no question it’s real and it’s going around but the media has scared the public so badly that people are now jumping the queue .
For days now, Canadians have been lining up for hours for their shot at getting their shot… and most of them shouldn’t even be in line.
So health care workers are reminding people that ‘high risk’ people should be the only ones right now who are eligible for the shot… and while most Canadians are understanding, some feel they have priority without valid cause and this is increasing the lines and, in some cases, priority people aren’t getting their shot because the medical clinic has run out for the time being.
Now there aren’t many good reasons to be north of 60, particularly this time of year (in my humble opinion)… but yesterday I walked into the H1N1 clinic, waltzed right up to the registration counter and within minutes I had been vaccinated. No line ups, no ‘priority’ cases first… just present your care card (even out of province), roll up your arm and feel the burn.
The only thing that took any time was that they ask you to wait (with free cookies and juice) for at least 15 minutes to see ensure you’re not going to have a bad reaction to the shot.
Yeah NWT.
So, my question to you: Are you going to get the H1N1 shot? I’d love you hear what you think.

You’re forgetting an option in your questionnaire:
e) I didn’t ask for it. I don’t need it. I don’t even know what it is. But if it’s from the government and free, THEN I’M TAKING IT and am going to complain like hell when I don’t get it!
Hey, I like the questionnaire functionality. Very chic.
Yeah, it’s funky…
I took care of that issue for ya buddy, although I had to cut your answer down a bit to fit the field limitations.
sweet!
I got it simply because I think it will become manditory for travel in the near future, and with both business and pleasure travelling that I do that is the main reason I got my shot.
Both businesses, Todd? What else do you do?
Did you all see the video from the Minister of Health in Finland?
A bit extreme but expresses my point of view. Do you see big lineups here?? Nope.
Big Pharma companies Big bucks. Population control.
I used to work at a health unit where they give the stuff.
It’s got mercury in it.
NOT ME NO THANKS!
Just wash your hands and keep hands away from your mouth and nose.
Or wear gloves when in public places.
I’m not much for the ‘government conspiracy theory’ line of thinking myself… you’re giving the government WAY too much credit.
As for the mercury, I asked the nurse about it. She showed me a fact sheet/ingredient list of the vaccine. The regular ‘adjuvanted’ vaccine contains 5 micrograms of mercury. A regular can of tuna averages 25 micrograms of mercury… and it’s considered safe.
What was really interesting is that the ‘unadjuvanted’ vaccine, the one for pregnant women, contained 50 micrograms of mercury. And the reason the ‘unadjuvanted’ vaccine is recommended to pregnant women? Because the ‘adjuvanted’ vaccine was not tested in pregnant women.
Hmmmm…. interesting.
