Internet Privacy

I heard a story in the  news about a model in New York who won a court order to reveal the identity of a blogger who called the model a ‘skank’ and a ‘ho’.

Now the blogger is suing Google  for revealing her identity.

Call me crazy but I believe there should be some accountability on the part of all bloggers.  If you are going to post something…. anything… you should be accountible for what you post.

For too long people have been given too much anonymity to freely post that which they would not dare dream of speaking in public.

It’s really no different than driving.  People become far more brazen behind the wheel and ‘socially acceptable’ behaviours seem to be left at the curb.  Many people feel empowered and untouchable behind the wheel… and there’s no rational reason why they do.

Cyberbullying shouldn’t be tollerated any more than aggressive driving or any other socially unacceptable behaviour.

In my opinion, if you’re going to ‘wage war’ online, you should at least have the balls to show your face and be prepared for some well deserved backlash.

What do you think?

Sorry, no sympathy for the blogger at all. BOO HOO. A judge ordered them to release her name. Good luck with the lawsuit.

I agree, if you slander someone in public, in a speach, on television you could get sued. Why should the internet, a public domain, be any different?
