And the Countdown Begins

Tracey and I have been working our keisters off over the last two weeks to get everything in order here to host her parents for a week. Man, we’ve spent lots of money and done alot of re-organizing and cramming to get this place in shape… and all-in-all, it looks pretty damn good.

We picked up a Lycksele Sofa Bed from Ikea and, considering how inexpensive it was, it seems really well put together and quite comfy. We’ve set that up in the office for T and I to sleep on and we’ll give her parents our marshmellow bed. Of course if they insist on the sofa bed, well, I don’t want to put up a fuss.

We’ve also picked up a 5 cu ft freezer and proceeded to stuff it full of stuff we bought at Costco. Man, that was a costly trip.

We’ve cleaned and cleaned and re-organized and even put up some Christmas decor (well, Tracy did that while I lay sick on the couch).

Oh, and a little while back, I managed to get my hands on some tail rotor blades, which I’ve wanted for a long time now. I got them framed in a shadow box and they’re hanging in the living room. Damn, they look sweet… I mean REALLY sweet. I’m going to take a photo and post it here one of these days.

So her folks arrive on Sunday morning. I’m off Thursday evening back to Ft. Craphole for another tour.

Oh yeah… spending Christmas and New Year’s in Ft. Simpson. It’s gonna rock.

Sounds like you are almost ready for the visit – good luck. Thanks for the info about the sofa bed – that looks like something I might need. Thanks for the post!

We may have spent a some of money but I think all our purchases have been very practical and useful for the long term.

MW the sofa bed was a surprisingly good deal and we were both shocked to discover its actually comfortable. There were even 3 choices for how firm or soft you wanted it and lots of choice in covers for when its a sofa.

Yes love, the rotor blades do look really good in the shadow box. If they stay in the shadow box that is a good thing they would make a terrible ceiling fan!

Are they seriously leaving you up there over the holidays? Why? How much flying are you really going to do within a few days of and after Christmas? Ridiculous! I’d revolt.

You’re all talk, Lumpy. You’d just bend over and let Paulie stick it to ya like he did for years.

There ain’t gonna be much flying as far as I can see, but it’s the Enbridge contract. Someone’s gotta be there for that ‘just in case’ factor.

Oh yeah, thanks for the Christmas card.

Wow, a week with her parents. That’s a pretty big step! If you’re not careful, you might end up proposing to her sometime!

    oh wait…

Say what you will but I have yet to work a Christmas and this year is no different. I have to work the 23rd and not again until the 28th. I can’t believe that they won’t bring you home for even 3 days. Do they have a Christmas Day Bonus or just bend over and enjoy Ft Simspon?

@Shnewt – Come on… you’ve never said no to role playing games before!
I’ll call you in the next few days to arrange a pickup for the camera.

@Ryan – There is a Christmas Day bonus… pretty weak though… it’s only like $200. While I’m not thrilled about being away for Christmas, I understand it’s something likely to happen in this biz once in awhile.
