Tracey (aka SunSwan) and I are having a GREAT time here in Kenora. We had some very hot weather, then some mild weather, now the weather is cooling off and going to be a bit rainy over the next few days. We even had a good thunder storm, which I really enjoyed, seeing as I’ve not seen one yet this year.
Tuesday we went out for a tour of the lake. Ron (Tracey’s dad) took us on a tour of some of the nicer ‘cottages’ on Lake of the Woods, then into the harbour in Kenora. Then we lunched close by in Keewatin (pronounced ‘Q-wait-in’)… all by boat.
Then we headed out for some casting for jacks (Great Northern Pike) and muskies (Muskellunges). After a good 45 minutes with no bites casting, Ron suggested Tracey and I try trolling for awhile.
We dropped our lines in and Ron started trolling the boat. We were only 50-60 feet into it and I was still letting out line when *SPLASH!* and my line was reeling out at full tilt.
Ohhh baby, was it good.
Do I look happy or what?!?!?
Tracey also caught about a 5 pound Jack as well.
That was alot of fun.

Now that’s a summer vacation picture, Roger!
I always enjoyed fighting fire in the northwest of Ontario with all the shield lakes. There is some beautiful country and great fishing. I was on a fire near Pickle Lake and near the end we stopped at a river mouth where it entered the lake and just hammered the walleye, brought them back to town and fed the air crew fresh fish that night at the town house they had us staying in, good times. I can see how spending your summer in the arctic shorts you some warm days. Have a good one Roger.
Dude, thats a big fish! How long did it take to reel in? Where are you heading on your next tour?
Yeah, the lakes in the shield are pretty damn nice, Todd… at least in the summer. It sure was nice to enjoy some of the summer.
Ryan, maybe took 10 minutes. I’m in Norman Wells now.
Congrats on the engagement!
