A hot shower and soft warm bed… priceless

Just back from another camp. This time stayed at the lovely Nauyak Lake at an old DFO cabin. The engineer and I were in the cabin while the Wildlife Survey of Canada personnel stayed in tents.
We spent 4 busy days snaking along the coastline surveying Edier ducks. I have no idea how much ground we covered but it was a crazy amount.
Of course all that flying is done at 200 feet above the partially frozen ocean… at high speed… pretty much what every pilot is told not to do as you’ll have your hands full if the stove quits.
Something I really wasn’t expecting was the number of grizzly bears we’d see. We counted 17 grizzlies in 4 days, 5 of those being cubs with mothers. Apparently there are ALOT of bears up here. I never expected that… and neither did the WSC people.
Unfortunately, grizzlies are not patient or willing to be easily photographed… so mostly we just seen them running away. Thankfully this fine fellow (or lady) was on the ice and it was relatively easy to snap more than just his/her ass.
So, finished bringing the crew and gear from camp and have a few days in Cambridge Bay… sitting….
Gotta love mins!

Cool photos! That is quite the action shot of the bear, guess they don’t really like noisy things flying over their heads eh.
