The move-in process is pretty much complete. All-in-all I have to say it went very smoothly.
Tracey and I are finishing small projects, like putting up shelves, ordering a screen door for the patio to keep kitty in, hanging pictures, etc.
Despite our best efforts, it seems neither of us knows how to measure. The other day we bought a new curtain rod for the living room. We get home and, surprise, the rod is about 2 feet short. Of course we didn’t measure the length we needed… we just looked at the rod at Ikea and immediately thought there was no way it wouldn’t fit. Here are your signs…. idiots.
So we’re at Rona yesterday and thinking about putting up screens on the windows as well. Seems kitty sticks her head through the small open window and pushes it open. Tracey found the back half of the cat perched way out on the edge of the window frame while her back end was sitting inside on the window sill. Now a fall from 4 floors may not kill kitty… but I’d rather not find test that theory.
Anyway, we were looking at the window screen kits and it dawned on us that we hadn’t measured the windows… so we had no way of knowing what kits to buy. Here are your signs…

Gotta start packing and head back to work tomorrow. Overnighting in Edmonton and catching a flight to Norman Wells, NWT on Tuesday. Wednesday I’ll be taking a machine up to Cambridge Bay, NT. Yeah, it’s up there.
I’ll be up there for my tour. The only info I’ve heard about the job is goose surveys and biology people in a longranger on floats.
I bought new rubber boots yesterday.
Oh yeah, new view is above… well, a cropped version of our new view.

At first I’m thinkin “Why wouldn’t they have screen’s?” but then it hits me me, no F@#*&G bugs. It must be nice, the skeeters are brutal here (as normal). I would gladly sacrifice a cat to not have screens but then if it doesn’t bring a goose or a duck back it’s not really a pet. Yeah I know I’m a redneck. Cool view Roger, I will look forward to having a beer with you guys next time I come to Vancouver.
Yeah buddy, no bugs… here.
I have to agree with you, cats are pretty useless. I’m a dog person myself.
You bet. Next time you’re down, give me a ring. We never did have that drink when you were down in the spring. I’ll even buy the first one!
That is a great view. Almost as good as my view in La Biche. Have fun up north. Chasing geese? Not sure if that sounds very fun at all. I know a LongRanger on floats won’t be. Forests here are burning but they won’t hire any local machines to fight them-go figure!
Sweet view.
Hi Roger,
Welcome back to civilization! Have you seen us blinking morse code at you? It would probably be more noticeable if we were not facing South?!
BTW – you guys are not the only ones who do crazy things with measurements. Paul & I put the Dumb in DIY most times. We surprise ourselves the odd time we get something right!
Have fun chasing geese tails.
Hope to see you guys soon.
Rachel
Love the pic.
Funny Rach. I’ve read about some of your DIY stories. Look forward to having lunch with you guys soon!
Thanks Jean!
I can see my house from here.
Hi, Loved your post on Everywhere a Sign. I’m interested in funny signs and on Thursday found a similar comment in a local newspaper. Couldn’t have said it better myself!
