Shootin’ Autos

I’m in Penticton doing my recurrent training. A fun filled week of classroom sessions, exams and lots of coffee.

The most enjoyable part is the actual flying, with one simulated emergency procedure after another: hydraulics failures, stuck pedal landings and, the most fun, engine failures (autorotations).

The instructors here are world renowned for their level of training, especially their mountain course. It’s a great opportunity to be here and gain some great knowledge.

I used to fear recurrent training and the PPC ride (Pilot Proficiency Check) but I rather enjoy it now, knowing full well that this is an opportunity to learn something new.

Once finished here this week I’m off to Ft. McMurray for the remainder of my tour. I’m hoping it warms up in Ft. Mac as it looks pretty damn cold up there right now.
